{"id":14705,"date":"2014-05-30T19:18:15","date_gmt":"2014-05-31T00:18:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianrep.com\/blog\/?p=14705"},"modified":"2014-05-30T20:13:39","modified_gmt":"2014-05-31T01:13:39","slug":"on-being-nobody","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianrep.com\/blog\/2014\/05\/30\/on-being-nobody\/","title":{"rendered":"On Being Nobody"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I live in a time and place in history when fame and popularity are important. \u00a0In fact, if we can&#8217;t find fame from the media we create it through Facebook. \u00a0With enough friends reading all about us and our lives we have a sense of value, significance, a feeling that we are somebody.<\/span><br style=\"color: #666666;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><br \/>\nOften I have fallen into this trap as well. \u00a0I have had the goals and desires for success, fame in my field, the desire to be &#8220;known&#8221;. \u00a0With the years of life I am realizing how fickle and worthless all of this really is. \u00a0Quickly people weary of any one person and move on to the next &#8220;celebrity&#8221; who will provoke their interest and attention. \u00a0Fame is fickle!<\/span><br style=\"color: #666666;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><br \/>\nIn my world of Christianity I have desired to &#8220;make a difference&#8221;, to be known, recognized, speak in front of large crowds, to &#8220;be somebody&#8221;! \u00a0But I am at a place where I&#8217;m honestly thrilled to be nobody. \u00a0If God does anything with who I am, where I am and what I do that&#8217;s up to him. \u00a0As for me, I&#8217;m finally content with anonymity. \u00a0What a great place to be.<\/span><br style=\"color: #666666;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><br \/>\nSuddenly I find that I can engage people without an agenda, without watching my watch. \u00a0Time, status, position and fame don&#8217;t matter. \u00a0What matters is a walk with God&#8230;.all the rest is God&#8217;s problem. \u00a0Aaaaaaahhhh&#8230;&#8230;finally, I pull over to the slow lane and enjoy the scenery, really listen to those around me, think, experience the world God has made, &#8220;smell the roses&#8221;. \u00a0<\/span><br style=\"color: #666666;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><br \/>\nFinally, for me to live is simply knowing Christ and when it&#8217;s over I get to be with him! \u00a0How great is that? \u00a0<\/span><br style=\"color: #666666;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><br \/>\nAll the rest is smoke and mirrors. \u00a0<\/span><br style=\"color: #666666;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><br \/>\nEverything else is a waste of time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Visit Mike at <a href=\"http:\/\/mikemesserli.blogspot.com\" target=\"_blank\">Finishing Well<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I live in a time and place in history when fame and popularity are important. \u00a0In fact, if we can&#8217;t find fame from the media we create it through Facebook. \u00a0With enough friends reading all about us and our lives we have a sense of value, significance, a feeling that we are somebody.
