{"id":8956,"date":"2012-03-27T17:14:37","date_gmt":"2012-03-27T22:14:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianrep.com\/blog\/?p=8956"},"modified":"2012-09-30T17:23:29","modified_gmt":"2012-09-30T22:23:29","slug":"are-you-a-fan-or-a-follower","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianrep.com\/blog\/2012\/03\/27\/are-you-a-fan-or-a-follower\/","title":{"rendered":"Are You A Fan Or A Follower?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Not too long ago, we watched an amazing dvd series, now a movie, <em>Not A Fan<\/em>, produced by City On A Hill Studio. This movie takes you into the life, or rather death, of a man who finds himself confronting what was his life as a nominal Christian.<\/p>\n<p>When Jesus said to &#8216;<strong>Follow Me<\/strong>&#8216;, he was looking for completely committed followers, not just fans. He wants us to be all in, not just with our toes in the water at the edge of the pool. Meditate on these awesome verses and join in following the King of Kings!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cCome,\u00a0<strong>follow<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>me<\/strong>,\u201d Jesus said, \u201cand I will send you out to fish for people.\u201d \u00a0Matthew 4:19<\/li>\n<li>But Jesus told him, \u201c<strong>Follow<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>me<\/strong>, and let the dead bury their own dead.\u201d \u00a0Matthew 8:22<\/li>\n<li>As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector\u2019s booth. \u201c<strong>Follow<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>me<\/strong>,\u201d he told him, and Matthew got up and\u00a0followed him. \u00a0Matthew 9:9<\/li>\n<li>Whoever does not take up their cross and\u00a0<strong>follow<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>me<\/strong>\u00a0is not worthy of\u00a0me. \u00a0 Matthew 10:38<\/li>\n<li>Then Jesus said to his disciples, \u201cWhoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and\u00a0<strong>follow<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>me<\/strong>.&#8221;\u00a0Matthew 16:24<\/li>\n<li>Jesus answered, \u201cIf you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come,\u00a0<strong>follow<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>me<\/strong>.\u201d \u00a0Matthew 19:21<\/li>\n<li>Jesus said to them, \u201cTruly I tell you, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have\u00a0<strong>follow<\/strong>ed\u00a0<strong>me<\/strong>\u00a0will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.\u00a0 \u00a0Matthew 19:28<\/li>\n<li>\u201cCome,\u00a0<strong>follow<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>me<\/strong>,\u201d Jesus said, \u201cand I will send you out to fish for people.\u201d \u00a0Matthew 1:17<\/li>\n<li>As he walked along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector\u2019s booth. \u201c<strong>Follow<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>me<\/strong>,\u201d Jesus told him, and Levi got up and\u00a0followed him. \u00a0Mark 2:14<\/li>\n<li>Jesus looked at him and loved him. \u201cOne thing you lack,\u201d he said. \u201cGo, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come,\u00a0<strong>follow<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>me<\/strong>.\u201d \u00a0Mark 10:21<\/li>\n<li>After this, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector by the name of Levi sitting at his tax booth. \u201c<strong>Follow<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>me<\/strong>,\u201d Jesus said to him, \u00a0Luke 5:27<\/li>\n<li>Then he said to them all: \u201cWhoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and\u00a0<strong>follow<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>me<\/strong>.&#8221; \u00a0Luke 9:23<\/li>\n<li>He said to another man, \u201c<strong>Follow<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>me<\/strong>.\u201d But he replied, \u201cLord, first let\u00a0<strong>me<\/strong>\u00a0go and bury my father.\u201d \u00a0Luke 9:59<\/li>\n<li>Still another said, \u201cI will\u00a0<strong>follow<\/strong>\u00a0you, Lord; but first let\u00a0<strong>me<\/strong>\u00a0go back and say goodbye to my family.\u201d \u00a0Luke 9:61<\/li>\n<li>And whoever does not carry their cross and\u00a0<strong>follow<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>me<\/strong>\u00a0cannot be my disciple. \u00a0Luke 14:27<\/li>\n<li>When Jesus heard this, he said to him, \u201cYou still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come,\u00a0<strong>follow<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>me<\/strong>.\u201d \u00a0Luke 18:22<\/li>\n<li>The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to him, \u201c<strong>Follow<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>me<\/strong>.\u201d \u00a0John 1:43<\/li>\n<li>When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, \u201cI am the light of the world. Whoever\u00a0<strong>follow<\/strong>s\u00a0<strong>me<\/strong>\u00a0will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.\u201d \u00a0John 8:12<\/li>\n<li>My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they\u00a0<strong>follow<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>me<\/strong>. \u00a0John 10:27<\/li>\n<li>Whoever serves\u00a0<strong>me<\/strong>\u00a0must\u00a0<strong>follow<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>me<\/strong>; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves\u00a0<strong>me<\/strong>. \u00a0John 12:26<\/li>\n<li>Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, \u201c<strong>Follow<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>me<\/strong>!\u201d \u00a0John 21:19<\/li>\n<li>Jesus answered, \u201cIf I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?
